Tree Planting & Care Guides
Match the tree to your local climate and soil type. For drier semi-arid areas, choose drought-resilient trees such as Yellow Acacia, Casuarina, or Moringa. Prepare a planting hole measuring 2ft wide by 2ft deep to loose the soil surrounding the root zone, mixing the topsoil with well-rotted organic manure.
Carefully slice or peel off the polythene propagation tube before planting. Do not disturb the root ball root mass. Place the seedling level with the surrounding ground, backfill the soil firmly, and construct a shallow water-holding basin around the base to harvest rain.
Water deeply early in the morning or late in the evening. Newly transplanted seedlings require 5-10 liters of water twice a week in the dry season. Apply a thick layer of organic mulch (dry grass or leaves) around the base, keeping it 3 inches away from the trunk to suppress weeds and conserve soil moisture.
Incorporate nitrogen-fixing species like Acacia or Sesbania to naturally boost agricultural yields. Plant vetiver grass or build check-dams on slopes along with root-binding species such as Giant Bamboo to prevent runoff and conserve the local watershed.
